Rotating Calipers for Vertex-Edge Pairs

Width Using Rotating Calipers

1. Consider the inital vertex-edge pair and parallel lines of support containing the vertex and the edge. Calculate the distance between the vertex and the parallel line of support containing the edge.

2. Rotate the parallel lines of support counter-clockwise until an edge (ei) is parallel to them. Calculate the distance between the new vertex and the parallel line of support containing ei.

3. Repeat step 2 until the initial antipodal vertex-edge pair is returned. EXAMPLE
