The differences are subtle between the various mertics. This is due to the large degree of smoothing that occurs on large images, with all of the 256 grey-levels put to use. See if you can try to pick up on the subtle differences in the images, look at thin areas, corners and pointy shapes to discern how the gradients propegate under the separate metrics.

This is the image under the diamond transformation, using the first-order Minkowski metric.
This is the image under the square transformation, using the infinite-order Minkowski metric.
This is the image under the octagon transformation, using the alternating scheme of both of the above metrics.
